Note: N124 Anna was the eldest of the Kisserow children. She was in her mid-40's when she got married, according to my mother Virginia. She lived in the Chicago area where her husband Don worked, but they did not have children. Mom recalls visiting them in Chicago and that they were taken out to a classy restaurant and had a beautiful home. Anna and Don also visited my aunt Minerva back east many times, where Minerva says they enjoyed the fresh turkeys and chickens the Crossley's raised when they lived in Vermont. Anna died during an operation that was recommended for cancer. Don was very upset and felt Anna should not have had the operation. My Aunt Minerva DeValska Crossley had a story about Ana and Don in response to my 1990’s family questionnaires (as follows): “Aunt Anna and Don Kirk - we visted them also in Chicago many times, enjoyed seeing them. They visited us in Vermont. Aunt Anna loved to eat the fresh vegetables out of the garden, and our turkeys and chickens which we raised. Brought me Mother and Dad’s wedding picture. She passed away the same year of cancer (operation). Uncle Don felt after he should not have let her have it (the operation). Felt so sorry for him. Glad they got to visit us.” Donald and Anna's marriage was performed by Reverend Jesse L. Fonda, 424 Lake Street, Oak Park,, Illinois. Donald was 36 years old and Anna was 37. ________________ 1930 U.S. Census: Name: Anna K Kirk Event Type: Census Event Year: 1930 Event Place: Chicago (Districts 1751-1976), Cook, Illinois, United States District: 1841 Gender: Female Age: 45 Marital Status: Married Race: White Race (Original): White Relationship to Head of Household: Wife Relationship to Head of Household (Original): Wife Birth Year (Estimated): 1885 Birthplace: Wisconsin Immigration Year: Father's Birthplace: Germany Mother's Birthplace: Germany Sheet Number and Letter: 11A Household ID: 175 Line Number: 35 Affiliate Name: The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) Affiliate Publication Number: T626 Affiliate Film Number: 492 GS Film number: 2340227 Digital Folder Number: 004584293 Image Number: 00895 Household Role Gender Age Birthplace Donald Kirk Head M 45 Illinois Anna K Kirk Wife F 45 Wisconsin Citing this Record: "United States Census, 1930," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XS5V-G5H : accessed 6 September 2015), Anna K Kirk in household of Donald Kirk, Chicago (Districts 1751-1976), Cook, Illinois, United States; citing enumeration district (ED) 1841, sheet 11A, family 175, line 35, NARA microfilm publication T626 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, 2002), roll 492; FHL microfilm 2,340,227. ________________ 1940 U.S. Census: Name: Anna Kirk Titles and Terms: Event Type: Census Event Date: 1940 Event Place: Ward 48, Chicago, Chicago City, Cook, Illinois, United States Gender: Female Age: 54 Marital Status: Married Race (Original): White Race: White Relationship to Head of Household (Original): Wife Relationship to Head of Household: Wife Birthplace: Wisconsin Birth Year (Estimated): 1886 Last Place of Residence: Same House District: 103-3097 Family Number: 344 Sheet Number and Letter: 61A Line Number: 6 Affiliate Publication Number: T627 Affiliate Film Number: 1018 Digital Folder Number: 005459774 Image Number: 00855 Household Role Gender Age Birthplace Donald Kirk Head M 54 Illinois Anna Kirk Wife F 54 Wisconsin Citing this Record: "United States Census, 1940," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:K49Q-WPD : accessed 6 September 2015), Anna Kirk in household of Donald Kirk, Ward 48, Chicago, Chicago City, Cook, Illinois, United States; citing enumeration district (ED) 103-3097, sheet 61A, family 344, NARA digital publication T627 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, 2012), roll 1018.
