1. Title:   Walter Develski of Escanaba, Mich., Family Info

a. Note:   N175 The father of Jacob Zdawietski (later Jacob DeValska/Develski/Devielski) operated a stagecoach line that ran between Posen (Poznan) and Danzig (Gdansk) in Poland, per Walter Develski. He had at least 2 sons that ended up in America.
Present day Radlow (Radloff is where Jacob was born) is located on a lake between Berlin and Frankfurt, Hwy E8 runs nearby. - This area was formerly in East Germany and not accessible when Walter and Dorothy Develski visited Poland.
His son Jacob's 1903 marriage certificate listed his father as "Wm. Devielski" and his mother as Mary Devielski. It is not clear whether the Mary Devielski that was a witness at his 1903 marriage was his mother or a daughter from a previous marriage (Mary Devalska Turcotte?). If it was his mother she would have been fairly elderly (in her 70's?) as he was about age 52 at the time of that marriage.
I am listing his surname as Zdawietski but he may have also gone by the name Devielski. The family name was changed after Jacob came to America.
Another possibility for the original spelling of the surname came from Evangline Turcotte Bosquette - She says her mom Mary (DeValska) was born a Zdrzelski. _________
