Note: Came to Vermont in 1800. "John Beecher, a deacon of the Baptist Church, Hinesburg, came from New Milford, Connecticut in 1800 and located where Royal Bell recently lived." He had eight children, John, Lydia, Lyman, Austin, Rebecca, Polly, Lucy, and Harvey. In 1816 he moved to Shoreham, Vermont where he died at age 74 years. His widow returned to Hineburg, where she died aged 86 years. "The only representatives now in town are two grandsons, Dr. Elmer Beecher and Harmon Beecher".
The Baptist Church in Hinesburg was organized on May 10, 1810. Among the eighteen original members were John Beecher and his wife Lydia, and John Beecher Jr. and his wife Clarissa. The church is still (1976) standing (built in 1826) although it is now the United Church.
John Beecher moved into Hinesburg town 1802 according to History and Tales of Hinesburg, Vermont by Bostwick.
