Beverage for certain services on Burnt Island, possibly even as resident caretaker. George subsequently bought the island from Beverage and lived there as a fisherman until about 1907, when he dismantled the old Cooper homestead and removed it piece-meal to North Haven, where he constructed a new home which still stands. He did this after selling the island and buildings to a yachtsman named Philip Wrenn who had cruised in the area; Wrenn returned the following season to find his farmhouse vanished.
