Bruce York questions Ira being a son of William Harris since he did not show up in William's family in 1850 or 1860 Overton Co, TN censuses Gennie Green provided the following info: When Ira's wife Nancy and their baby daughter died at the same time and of the same illness, Ira found himself unable to properly care for their son Berry. In the 1880 Census, Ira and Berry are living with Ira's father, William Harris (62), Eliza (56), Ira (32); Calvin (14); N.C. (12) and Berry (8.) As Berry grew old enough to work, he was loaned out to other families to perform hard labor. Berry grew up under difficult circumstances. Ira went blind many years before he died.
