Note: , of Fostoria, OH, formerly of Overton County, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2010 from the chapel at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial, with full military honors by United Veterans of Fostoria, will be at Fountain Cemetery. Mr. Roberts died Sunday, August 29, at his home. He was a member of Fostoria Baptist Church in Fostoria, and the American Legion in Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960, and U.S. Army Reserves. He was employed by National Electric Carbon for 42 years, retiring in 1998, during which time he served as the Secretary/Treasurer of the I.U.E. union. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball and football, and was a Red Cross volunteer. He was a loving and generous husband, father, and grandfather. Born August 23, 1937 in Monterey, TN, he was the son of the late Carlie and Odie (Phillips) Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Hershel Roberts, Carlie Roberts, Junior, J.C. Roberts, and L.D. Roberts; and 3 sisters, Verdon Hinebaugh, Virgia Roberts, and Barbara Inbody. Survivors include his wife, Clarice (Eck) Roberts of Fostoria, whom he married on August 26, 1956 in Findlay; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie and Terry Steinhauer of Tiffin, OH, and Kathi Lyon of Findlay, OH; 2 brothers and 3 sisters-in-law, Perry and Barbara Roberts of Cookeville, TN and Doyel and Teola Roberts of Monterey, TN, and Florence Roberts of Findlay, OH; 2 grandchildren, Angela Malek and her husband, Aaron, of Billings, MT, and Terry Steinhauer, Junior and his wife, Jen, of Fayetteville, NC; 3 great-grandchildren, Aristotle Malek, Gabriel Malek, and Asher Gentry Malek, who is to be born in September; and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will follow at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, where the United Veterans of Fostoria will provide military honors.
