Obituary in The New Castle Courier-Times 5 Oct 1939 -- Mrs. Bertha L. Shelley, 42 years old, wife of Kenneth Shelley, died at the family home, 1620 D avenue, at 6 o'clock last night following a brief illness. Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Martha Lord, Mrs. Inez Farrell, and Mrs. Betty York all of New Castle and Mildred Shelley and Mary Shelley at home; two sons, Samuel Shelley and kenneth Shelley Jr. at home; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie May Harding of this city and Mrs. Bessie Waggoner of Chicago; two brothers, Henry Clark of Dayton, O., and Everet Clark of New Castle; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Shelley was a member of the Christian church at Seymour. Remains will be removed from the Fox and Macer chapel to the hme where friends may call after 7 this evening. Funeral rites will be at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at the First Christian church with the Rev. Robert Beck officiating. Burial will be in Southmound cemetery.
