Note: sed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. York was born July 5, 1937 in the Bill’s Creek Community in Fentress County. He was a carpenter and a member of the Clarkrange Lodge. Mr. York is survived by wife of 50 years, Jewel (Cooper) York of Grimsley; three sons, Dale York and wife Tammy of Martha Washington Community, Timmy York and wife Marsha of Armathwaite Community, and Lannie York of Grimsley; three daughters, Debra York and Doris Warden and husband Billy of Grimsley, and Marilyn Matthews and husband Neil of Byrdstown; two sisters, Joyce Manis of Cookeville and Thelma Crabtree and husband Bill Junior of Livingston; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; aunt, Hattie Batson of Monterey, CA; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. York was preceded in death by father, Delmar York; mother, Addie (Cooper) York; daughter, Peggy York; grandson, Matthew York; sister, Helen Savage; brother-in-law, Charles Savage; three infant sisters; and three infant brothers. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Oscar England officiating. Burial followed in the Goney Cemetery in Fentress County. Active pallbearers included Hollis York, Carl Franklin, Dicky York, Dave Yates, Hack Yates and John Gunter. Honorary pallbearers included Gene Owens, L.D. York, Jimmy Ray York, Jimmy Richards, Calvin York, William York and Oliver Stephens. Jennings Funeral Home of Jamestown, Tennessee was in charge of services. Tasha York -- [email protected] -- reported that his mother's maiden name is incorrect in the obituary, that it should be Yates and not Cooper.
