Note: t Lakes, IL; Seaman First Class. Obituary 29 Oct 1996-- Charlie A. Vorhees, 78, Muncie, died Friday at Ball Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Vorhees was a lifelong resident of Muncie, was in the Navy. He worked at Delco Battery in production for more than 33 years before retiring in 1979. He was a member of Delco Battery Sympathy Club and United Auto Workers Local 489. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Edith Vorhees; four daughters, Kathy Jobe, Susie M. Musick (husband: Donald) and Charlene Brannon (husband: Jeff), all of Muncie, and Christine Moles (husband: Mike), Greensburg; four brothers, Dick Vorhees (wife: Mary), Gene Vorhees (wife: Viva) and Floyd Vorhees, all of Muncie, and John Vorhees (wife: Mary), Norfolk, VA; a sister, Susie Cart (husband: John), North Fort Myers, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. His parents, James and Amanda Voorhees, and three brotherss, Ed, Leonard and Lloyd Vorhees, are deceased. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Parson Mortuary. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by veteran organizations of Delaware County. Calling will be 3-7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
