Note: g, 80, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 from Beaty Swamp Community Church in Monroe, with Bro. Orbin Lane officiating. Burial was in Beaty Cemetery in Monroe. Mr. Young died Tuesday, January 15, at Masters Healthcare & Rehab in Algood. He was a heavy equipment operator in road construction, a U.S. Army veteran, and member of Beaty Swamp Community Church. Born January 10, 1933 in Overton County, he was the son of the late Ollie (Young) McDonald. Survivors include his wife, Teena Young of Monroe; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Jason Calder of Cookeville; an aunt, Sue Young of Monroe; and a granddaughter, Riley Alaine Calder. Pallbearers were Henderson Young, Gary Young, Mike Reeser, David McDonald, Ralph McDonald, and Tony Ray. Honorary pallbearers were James “Doc” White, James Norrod, Jackie Melton, Sonny Reeser, Ernest Geesling, Jimmy Young, Jerry Hancock, and Charles “Chig” Parrott. Special care provided by Speck Funeral Home.
