  1. Isaac Beaty: Birth: 1803 in , Cumberland, Kentucky. Death: 16 Mar 1854 in Little Crab, Fentress, Tennessee

a. Note:   Have seen birth as 15 Feb 1762 Nottingham, Chester Co, PA. Revolutionary War soldier. Pension number S2990 or 82990? Resided in Rowan Co, NC from 1775-83; Sullivan Co, TN from 1783-85; then Greene Co, TN; Cumberland Co, KY; and Rutherford Co, TN. 1799 Clinton Co, KY tax list. 1810 Cumberland Co, KY census James Beaty with 3 dependent males and 4 dependent females. Lived in Lick Creek Valley, Clinton Co, KY. Later went to Rutherford Co, TN. Willie R. Beaty -- I have a copy of a marriage bond made in Pennsylvania for James Beaty to be married to Mary Catherine Smith, dated 2 Feb 1767 and witnessed by a John Beaty, most likely his dad. Willie R. Beaty -- I am a descendant of James Beaty, b. 1752 or 1753 in Nottingham Township, Chester Co PA. My line is as follows: James1, Isaac2, John Gwin3, Isaac Stephen4, Andrew Clinton5, Willie Bates6, Me7. We now know that James Beaty was not the son of John Beaty and Margaret Montgomery, and that the previously supposed brothers and sisters are not all siblings. DNA does suggest a close relationship of the Beatys who settled Cumberland Co KY, Overton Co TN, and at least some of those who settled in Rutherford Co TN. Some of these Beatys were residents in Fentress, Pickett TN, Clinton KY, Cannon TN when they were established in the 1820's and 1830's (Pickett, 1879). Others had moved on west to Arkansas, Missouri, and other pioneer territories. I have contributed Y-DNA, as has my brother. My brother has been tested to 67 markers with FTDNA, and I am a member of the GENMATCH Yahoo Discussion Group. Thus far, DNA has suggested a high probability of relationship with most of the Beatys listed above, but is unable to pinpoint those relationships within the last 4-6 generations, which we must depend upon a paper trail to establish. Willie Rogers Beaty -- I wanted to comment on James Beaty's wife, Mary Catherine Smith. I'm not sure when the 'catherine smith' part came into being. I think some one too a marriage record that I have an image of in PA in 1767 of a James Beaty taking out a bond to marry a Mary Catherine Smith, and it was signed by a John Beaty. The probably I see with this record is that James would have been only 15 years old at most when this took place, so I believe it is a different James Beaty, and there are many others in PA during this time. According to Cumberland County KY 1810 census record, James Beaty had no children living in his household born before about 1784. James refers to his wife as "my truly friend Mary Baty" in his will as his sole benefactor. So, in the absence of any concrete evidence, I have removed 'catherine smith' from Mary's name, and am listing her as simply Mary. I would love to know what her maiden name was, so any help would be appreciated. is NOT responsible for the content of the GEDCOMs uploaded through the WorldConnect Program.
