a. Note:   Have seen her birth year as 1824, 1829 and 1830, and death year as 1924. Death date may have been 1 Nov 1915 and 21 Oct 1915. May have died in Glenobey or Jamestown? Charlotte and Andrew raised her half brother, Thomas Jefferson Beaty. He was the son of George and Hannah Graham Beaty, Hannah died during childbirth. Andrew went by horseback to pick up the baby shortly after he was born and rode back with the baby. Thomas lived with Charlotte and Andrew until he married.
  On Oct. 27, 1871 Jeremiah and Sarah Beaty, both residents of the 4th District of Fentress County Tennessee state they were personally present at the house of George Beaty in Fentress County Tennessee on the 23rd day of Sept. 1849 and there saw Andrew J. Stephens and Charlotte Beaty joined together as man and wife.
  On Dec. 11, 1879 Charlotte Stephens aged 50 and a resident of FentressCounty Tennessee filed a Widow's Claim for Pension. She states that she is the widow of Andrew J. Stephens who was a private in Company commanded by Capt. Dave Beaty in Capt. David Beatys Independent Scouts in the War of 1861; that her maiden name was Charlotte Beaty and that she was married to Andrew J. Stephens on or about the 23 day of Sept. 1849 at Boatland, in the County of Fentress and State of Tennessee by Charley Witt. She states that Andrew J. Stephens her husband was killed in the service of the United States as aforesaid at Jamestown in the State of Tennessee on or about the 15th day of Feb. 1864 and was killed in action. She lists the following children under the age of 16 at Andrew Stephens Death: Wm. H. Savage Beaty born Aug. 14, 1850, Manson M.
