Note: inistrations", 1779-1861; Clem Jennings, 1837 wb #117, & 1852 wb #180, Wilson co. Only Elizabeth listed in 1840 census, Wilson co. The book "Wilson Co. TN Wills, books 1-13, 1802-1850, at B'ham Lib. abstracts Clem's will. Says it was recorded 4 May, 1837, p 50-52. Mentions a son Clem. I have copy of abstract. Also find census for Clem prior to 1840. !MAR-KIDS: "Documented Notes on Jennings..." !BIRTH: Paper from Mt. Juliet library. !LIFE: In early '90s, Sue Howell took Irene & I to the site of Clem's home, long gone. It was on Nonaville Rd., 1 street N of Springhill Rd. Also went to the Davis Cemetery on N Greenhill Rd. Some gleanings from the book "West Wilson Neighbors", p. 22: it states that one of the earliest mills was located on Cedar Lick Creek. Operator Theophilus Bass sold his land to Clem Jennings, who had come to Wilson county around 1798 with a group that intended to go to Maury co., but stayed instead in the Statesville area of Wilson. Clem married Ann Wimbush Cook first, in Virginia, then Elizabeth Bennett of Sumner co., TN. His descendants still lived in the area when the book was written. His son Clem Jr. drowned & his widow Elizabeth Britt married James Vaughn, a widower. After the Civil War, they & others from Wilson co. went to Brazil. Clem Sr.'s daughter Julia married James Baird first, then Guy Trigg Gleaves. "Tax Lists of Wilson Co." lists tax districts & locations within the county in various years & includes Clem Jennings: 1803 200 acres Cumberland River 1805 200 Cedar Lick 1806 200 - 1807 200 Where he lives "Doc. Notes on Jennings...", p. 555, says Clem came to Tennessee in 1799, from Prince Edward Co., Virginia. He settled at Mt. Juliet where he lived the rest of his life. A deed dated 24 Dec., 1799 transfers 200 acres in Wilson Co., TN from Michael C. Sweetman to Clem & Robert Jennings. They sold the land to Wm. Crabtree 12 Dec., 1807. Grant Bk. C, 1807-09, p. 70. A note Curt once had, source unknown, indicated Clem may have lived on Spence Crk. !DEATH: Death day & month, & community of death only from Sue Howell's Jennings chart. Wilson Co. TN Wills, books 1-13, 1802-1850, mentions a widow's allotment for Elizabeth Jennings, widow of Clem Jennings. Dated 16 Nov., 1852, p. 436.
