  By 1872 he was back in MS (maybe Washington County) as census info indicates his four oldest children were born there between 1872 and 1877. 1880 census has family back in Caldwell County. Virginia and a young baby both died approx 1880. Thomas disappeared shortly thereafter - the children were raised by relatives, possibly Ellison relatives.
  Thomas was committed to the Terrill State Hospital by his brother, Flood, in May of 1891 and there he died on July 15, 1915 of exhaustion. He was diagnosed with 'chronic melancholia' (now known as depression).
