a. Note:   He stowed away on a sailing ship and came to America, probablyaround 1751, when he was 16 or 17 years old. Having no money,he was sold to pay his passage. Listed in the SIze Rool ofCaptain Thomas Wagener's Company at Fort Holland, probably early1755, in the French and Indian War. He fought in the battle ofFort Duquesne where General Edward Braddock was defeated July 9,1755 and was one of the 459 men out of 1,386 who survived thebattle. He was a member of Captain Enoch Osborne's Company ofMontgomery Co., VA during and after the Revolutionary War.There is a marker at Young's Chapel Cemetery, Oak Hill Academy,Grayson Co., Virginia.Listed in 1794 Grayson County, Virginia Personal Property TaxList.
