a. Note:   B. NY State c. 1790,. account of his son, says his father, d. 1861, aged 78 yrs, and 1860 census show him as aged 69, and the 1855 census gives aged 55-60, he m. Ruth Young, b. 7 Mar. 1792, Morris Co. NJ, d. 1850. Her father, later a Rev. War. Pensioner, moved from NJ to Luzerne Co. PA, about 1800, brought land near that owned by Eli Edwards. In 1816, Eli Edwards, the Young Family, and probably William Page and David Edwards moved to Delaware Co. OH. An Elijah Edwards served in the War of 1812 from Ross Co. OH, but no family data is in the file. The 1820 Ohio census lists only one man of his name. In 1839 shortly after the death of his wife's mother Elijah moved to Coles, now Cumberland Co. IL. He first entered 80 acres, then bought an additional 80 acres from John Cutright Sr., (Hist Cos. Cumberland, Jasper & Richland IL) p. 349, which contains a sketch of the son, Elijah. Both the courthouse and the newspaper office were burned and there is neither legal records nor obituary. His gravestone has been broken but his wife's survives.
