  OBITUARY: Robert Morris Phillips Robert Morris Phillips, 80, died Nov. 20, 2000, at Newman Memorial Hospital, Emporia. He was born Feb. 14, 1920, at Larned, the son of Oc Rex and Edna Pauline Kirby Phillips. A longtime resident of Larned and a graduate of Larned High School, he moved to Emporia in 1946. He farmed in the Emporia area and was club manager of the VFW there. He attended St. Mark's Lutheran Church, was a 50-year member of the American Legion and belonged to the DAV and the VFW, all at Emporia, and the Kansas Masonic Lodge at Americus. He was a U.S. Army veteran. On Nov. 27,1946, he married Juanita Mae VanCleave at Great Bend. She survives. Other survivors include: two daughters; a sister, Donna Schroeder, Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Emporia, with the Rev. Peter Rupprecht presiding. The family will receive friends at Carlson Funeral Home, Emporia, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia, with military graveside honors conducted by local VFW and American Legion posts. The Hutchinson News.com 22 Nov 2000.
