Note: Lansing Journal, Lansing, Michigan, Jan. 2, 1909, Page 2 STROKE O APOPLEXY FATAL TO J.J. WOOD MAN STRICKEN IN GROCERY STORE SEVERAL DAYS AGO DIES IN HOSPITAL John J. Wood, who was stricken with apoplexy in Reck Brothers grocery store several days ago, died yesterday morning at the city hospital. He was born near Auburn, NY, October 20, 1842. In 1856 he came to Michigan with his parents and settled in Lansing, and remained here until 1898 when he left the city and settled on a farm in Clinton county. In 1901 he settled on a farm near Lowell and engaged in commission business, dealing mainly in apples and potatoes. He was married in March 1865 to Miss Clara Price, daughter of John R. Price of this city. Besides his wife he is survived by four children, Miss Fanny E Wood, Miss Liela Wood, Fred A. Wood of this city and Mrs. J.W. Smart of Saginaw. The deceased was a member of Franklin Council No. 211 Royal Adcanum. Funeral services will be held at the residence of F.A. Wood, 508 Franklin avenue west, tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Frederic Brown officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.
