Note:   from The Colon Express, Thursday, September 10, 1942: "HEART ATTACH FATAL TO ALBION WAGNER Funeral services for Albion Wagner were held at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Conklin Funeral Home, the Rev. Roscoe Barbour, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating. The body rests in Lakeside Cemetery. Albion Russell Wagner, aged 46 years, who had been ill only for a few hours, was taken to the Sturgis hospital Sunday forenoon where he died at noon from a heart attack. He was the son of Wirt and Ellen Russell Wagner, born June 4, 1896, on the old homestead farm two miles southwest of Colon. He had been a resident of Colon and vicinity the greater part of his life and is occupation was farming until a a few years ago when he took up the carpenter trade which he has worked at since. His first marriage was to Mary Hunt who died in May 1930. To this union four children were born, Stanley, with the U.S. Army in Iceland; Elizabeth Shannon of Colon; Wendell, of Sturgis; Raymond of Quincy. Mr. Wagner was united in marriage with Verna Me Latta Dec. 21, 1940. Other immediate relatives who survive are his two step-daughters, Kathryn Markley of Bronson and Merna Van Wormer of Clark Lake; a grandson, Erwin Lee Shannon; two half-sisters, Mrs. Lottie Iwans of South Bend, Mrs. Mabel Fair of Mongo, Ind., sister, Mrs. Lola Kent of Kalamazoo; and two brothers, Raymond Wagner of Trenton and Joel Wagner of Sherwood."
