Note: From Jackson (Michigan) Citizen Patriot-Dec. 23, 2004: "Robert L. Whitman, 86, of Saline, formerly of Jackson and Caro, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, at the Saline Evangelical Home. He worked at Handley Industries, Western Stamping Co. and Caro Plastics. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine, in 2000. Surviving are two daughters, Jacquelyn Walton and Marjorie Shelton; one sister Maxine Mangas; four grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters. Arrangements are by Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home, Saline." Robert L. Whitman Whitman, Robert L. Saline, MI (Formerly of Jackson and Caro) Died December 21, 2004 peace fully at the Saline Evangelical Home, his home for over five years. He was born September 18, 1918 to Glen and Edna (Petersen) Whitman. His wife Geraldine Gerry nee Shearer died January 16, 2000. Bob worked as tool designer and engineer in Jackson and Caro. His cheerful generous spirit remained strong throughout his life. Surviving are daughters, Jacquelyn (Stephan) Walton of Phoenix AZ and Marjorie (Hon. Donald) Shelton of Saline; grandchildren, Michael (Cressy) Walton of Scottsdale AZ, Brittany Walton of Evans ville IN, Tracy Shelton-Colson of Milan and Gregory (Kerry) Shelton of Saline; great-grand daughters, Madison Shelton, Elizabeth Colson and Callie Walton; devoted sister, Maxine (Jerry) Mangas of Redford; many nieces and nephews, the Camp family cousins, and extended family. A private memorial gathering will be held at the Shelton home in Saline. Bob's cremains will be inhumed together with Gerry's in the Memorial Garden of Caro United Methodist Church at a later date. Memorial contribu tions may be made to the church at 670 W. Gilford Rd, Caro MI 48723 or to his alma mater Jackson Community College. Arrangements by Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home of Saline.
