a. Note:   Delphos Daily Herald, Delphos, Ohio, April 16, 1903 "REMAINS INTERRED Funeral of the Late Catharine A. Saums Held Wednesday The funeral of Mrs. Jacob Saums was held from the Salem church near Elida Wednesday and the remains were interred in the Salem cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. Kneep of Elida. Catherine A. Saums (nee Myers) was born in Fairfield county, O., August 19, 1837. She came to Allen county, Ohio in October 1852 with her parents and since that time has continued to reside in Allen and Van Wert counties. Catherine A. Myers was united in marriage to Jacob saum, of Middle Point, Ohio, November 10, 1877. Mrs. Saums was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Saums, on February 1st of this year. Though Mrs. Saums home was in Delphos, she died from cancer of the stomach, at the home of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. John Conrad, of near West Cairo. She died April 13, 1903, at the ripe age of 65 years, 7 months and 14 days. Mrs. Saums leaves to mourn her loss one son, James Walch, of Leipsic, O., two grandchildren, three brothers, Aaron Myers, of Elida, Noah Myers, of rimer and David Myers of Elida; two sisters, Mrs. Alvina Conrad, of near West Cairo, and Mrs. Lydia Stemen, of Van Wert, besides many other relatives and friends."
