Note: Ray was raised by aunt and uncle, Ida Emma Shearer and Ray Brunk, after his mother's death and assumed their last name. "R.L. BRUNK DIES AT 70 Ray L. Brunk, 70, a Muskegon Heights resident since 1929, died Monday at his home, 2610 Hoyt Street, after a brief illness. Until his retirement in 1961, he had been employed in the enamel department at Anaconda Wire & Cable Co. for 31 years. Born July 16, 1893, in Ohio, he settled in Shelby before moving to the Muskegon area 35 years ago. Mr. Brunk married the former Violet Ames July 16, 1911, in Hart. Survivors include his widow, two sons, Arnold of Muskegon Heights and Keith of Santa Ana, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. John Thomas of Arlington Heights, Ill., Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Lee Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements." "BRUNK, MR. RAY L., 2610 Hoyt St., Muskegon Hts. Funeral services for Mr. Ray Brunk will be held at the Lee Funeral Home Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Mr. Brunk will be laid to rest in Mona View.
