When the Civil War was upon the Nation; though young in years he was found ready to serve his country and his Flag; marching with the "Boys in Blue" on that famous march from "Atlanta to the Sea," never quitting until the surrender of Lee. The casket containing Mr. Sherer's remains after services held in Monroe, was brought to the Edgar VanRensselaer undertaking rooms on Tuesday May 24th and on Wednesday afternoon escorted by his comrades of Losure Post the casket was taken to the Methodist church where Rev.
