a. Note:   from Niles Daily Star, Niles, Michigan, 28 May, 1956 FRED T HULCE Fred T. Hulce, 76. of 507 North Fifth Street, died Sunday in Pawating Hospital after a short illness. Hulce was born Oct. 24, 1879 in Athens and came here from Chelsea in 1911. He was a retired Western Union employee. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War and past commander of the E.I. Hamilton Post of Spanish War Veterans. Hulce also was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star, Bend of the River Grange and a life member of the St. Joe Valley Lodge No. 4 F. and A.M. Survivors are his widow, Clara; one son, Ray of Akron, Ohio, four grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Cora Wagner of Athens, Mrs. Anna Simonds of Battle Creek, and Mrs. Floyd Brownell of South Bend. Masonic services will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Pifer Funeral Home where friends may call until noon on Tuesday when the body will be taken to the Presbyterian Church for services at 2 p.m. with Dr. T.M. Greenhoe officiating. American Legion members will conduct committal services at Silverbrook Cemetery.
