Notes
a. Note:   According to "The Hulce/Hulse Families in America" Frank died in the 1930s in a car accident in Sheyboygan, Michigan. He never married. from Battle Creek Enquirer, Nov. 13, 1930 page 8: MAN KILLED ON TRACKS MY HAVE LIVED HERE The body of a man tentatively identified as Frank Hultz, or Huler, believed to be from Battle Creek, was found Wednesday on the tracks of the Pennsylvania railroad, a short distance north of Cadillac, an Associated Press dispatch says. he had been struck by a train. A memorandum book in a pocket of the man's clothing bore the name of Frank Huler. Former fellow employees, however, i identified the man as Frank Hultz, who had been employed a short time ago by the Cummer-Diggins Lumber company in Cadillac. Local police, on request of the Cadillac coroner, made attempts to locate relatives of Hultz this morning. A search of the directory and a checkup on post office general delivery records listed no one by that name here. The request that any relatives here should communicate with the coroner at Cadillac was broadcast over the Enquirer and News station WELL today." from Battle Creek Enquirer, Nov 14, 1930 page 13: "Frank Hulce, 53, who was found dead Wednesday on the tracks of the Pennsylvania railroad near Cadillac, is the brother of Mrs. E.P. Simons of 55 Elm, who has left for Cadillac to make funeral arrangements. Mrs. Simons had not heard from her brother for about seven years. Local police were called Wednesday night by Coroner Carroll of Cadillac who asked that they attempt to locate relatives of the dead man whose name he believed was either Frank Hultz or Huler. He was believed to be from Battle Creek. The police, after being unable to identify the dead man, asked the Enquirer and news to publish an item and broadcast over station WELL a request asking any relatives to communicate with the Cadillac coroner. It was the item published Thursday night which resulted in the discovery that Mrs. Simons was related to the deceased. Mr. Hulce is also survived by a brother, Fred, of Ypsilanti. The former was said to have been employed by a lumber company in Cadillac prior to his death.
