From Leader Enterprise, Montpelier, OH, Monday, Dec. 6, 1948, page 5 "BESSIE CONKEY Bessie Conkey, daughter of Nancy Jane Clark Dick and George W. Dick, was born Dec. 2, 1882, near Nettle Lake, in Williams County, Ohio, and departed this life Nov. 30, 1948, at the age of 65 years, 11 months and 28 days. On March 9th, 1905 she was united in marriage to William Arthur Conkey. To this union were born three sons, Ford, of Northwest Township, Clair of Lansing, and Bruce, who died in infancy. She spent her entire married life on the farm, where she passed away, until after the death of her husband on March 12th, 1943, at which time she moved to Montpelier. She leaves to mourn their loss, 2 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, one grandson, one sister, Mrs. Louella Powers, 2 half sisters, Mrs. Minnie Cruson, and Mrs. Myrta Reese. A brother, Edward, preceded her in death several years ago. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and a host of friend She attended the United Brethren Church in Montpelier, and was a member of the W.C.T.U. She was a devoted mother and will be sadly missed by her loved ones. I cannot say, and I will not say That she is dead--she is just away With a cheery smile and a wave of her hand She has wandered into an unknown land, And left us dreaming how very fair It needs must be since she lingers there, And you, Oh, you, who the wildest yearn For the old-time step and the glad return, think of her faring on, as dear, In the love of there as the love of here. Think of her still as the same, I say: She is not dead--she is just away. CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank all friends and neighbors, for wonderful help, kindness and floral expressions of sympathy in a time when it was so much needed. We also want to thank Rev. Steinke for his words of comfort. Mr. and Mrs. Ford Conkey; Mr. and Mrs. Clair Conkey and son."From Leader Enterprise, Montpelier, Ohio, Thursday Dec. 2, 1948, Page 1 "SERVICES TOMORROW FOR BESSIE CONKEY Special to the Leader-Enterprise Cooney--Mrs. Bessie Conkey, 65, a resident of Northwest township for many years, but more recently of Montpelier, passed away suddenly Tuesday night of a heart attack at the home of her son, Ford Conkey, near here.
