Note:   From Owosso, Michigan Argus-Press, Saturday, February 26, 1949, page 5 AGED LADY DIES THIS MORNING Mrs. Mary Alice Stanhope, 88, resident of Owosso for about 42 years died of complications at 10 a;.m. today at the home of a son, Harry E. Stanhope, Sr., 1220 North Chipman street. She had been in failing health for the past two months. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Knapp & Smith funeral home. The Rev. Maynard Woudsma will officiate with burial in Oak Hill cemetery. Mrs. Stanhope was born March 13, 1860 In Greenville, Pa. She attended Greenville schools. At the age of 15 she settled in Fenmore, northwest of Chapin with her parents. On May 22, 1899 she was married to Edward Eli Stanhope in Owosso. He is deceased. She belonged to the Owosso Chruch of Christ. Surviving are two sons, Harry E. Stanhope, Sr., Owosso, and James Gillis, Bannister; two daughters, Mrs. William Marble, Lansing and Mrs. Frank Lyons, Jackson.
