Notes
a. Note:   MRS. CHAUNCEY AVERY PASSES TO REWARD Lean Addell Wood was born in Smyrna, Chenango Co, New York, August 28, 1854. She spent her girlhood days until June 7, 1870, when she was married to Chauncey H. Avery of the same place. In 1892 Mr. and Mrs. Avery came to Michigan and located in East Leroy, where they resided until they moved to Pine Creek six years ago. To this devoted union nine children were born and reared to manhood and womanhood, there being no break in the family circle until Nov. 19, 1920, when the Master of Life beckoned the mother Home. Mrs. Avery's entire life was one of true Christian character. As a wife she was always faithful to every duty and devoted; as a mother, kind, sympathetic and loving; a true and kind neighbor. She was consistent in every movement for good, always striving to make those around her happy, forgetting any of her own earthly discomforts for the good of others. June 7, 1920, Mr. and Mrs. Avery were permitted to enjoy their fiftieth wedding anniversary with all of the children present but one, Harry Avery who resides in Canada, and on account of illness in his own family was unable to be with them. She leaves to mourn her departure a kind and loving husband, Chauncey H. Avery; nine children, Mrs. Wayne Button of Vicksburg, Mrs. Chas. Worth of Athens, Harry Avery of Toronto, Canada, Clarence Avery of Battle Creek, Emery Avery of Leroy, Mrs. Ed. Davis of Battle Creek, Mrs. J. Hayes of Pine Creek, Mrs. Wm. Lehman and Mrs. Pearl Farman of Leroy. Her devoted life to family, neighbors and friends will ever be cherished memories as long as time permits them to remain. The funeral was held at the M.E. Church in East Leroy Sunday afternoon, Rev. Geo. Carter officiating.
