a. Note:   WILL OF GEORGE MARLIN MCWHIRTER AT MARCH TERM, 1897, WARREN CO. COURT
  KNOW ALL MEN, by these presence that I, George Marlin MCWHIRTER of the 3rd civil district of Warren County state of Tennessee. Considering the uncertainty of this life and being of sound mind and memory do make declare and publish this my last Will and Testament.
  FIRST: I give and bequeath to my daughter Sallie Catherine MCWHIRTER a certain piece or parcel of land described and bounded as follows, commencing on a stake in Jerimiah JACO'S south boundary line 15 poles east of Bud PENY house running hence south 16 poles to a stake thence west 30 poles to a stake thence north 16 poles to said JACOS' line thence east with said land 30 poles to the beginning containing 3 acres.
  SECOND: I give and bequeath to my son John Alexander MCWHIRTER my daughters Sarah Elizabeth CANTRELL AND Ellen H. PAYNE my son Sampson MCWHIRTER my daughter Martha E. CLARK, Lucinda Caroline GIBSONS heirs and Margrette Perlina PERRY all that tract of parcel of land conveyed by James H. RHODES to John CUNNINGHAM and by said John CUNNINGHAM TO George Marlin MCWHIRTER and wife containing 124 acres except the 3 acres described above and given to my daughter Sallie the above to be equally divied.
  THIRD: I give and bequeath to my daughter DAUGHTER SALLIE Catherine MCWHIRTER and my sons Newton Powell MCWHIRTER and Wade Hampton MCWHIRTER all of a certain tract or parcel of land conveyed by Mary WORTHINGTON, William RENSHAW, and wife to George Marlin MCWHIRTER and containing 26 acres also of a certain tract or parcel of land conveyed by J. E. RAWLINGS to George Marlin MCWHIRTER which land are fully described in deeds held by me these two tracts of land to be equally divided between heirs aboved named.
  FOURTH: I want my sons Newton and Wade each to have a bed and bed clothes sufficient and Sallie to have her bed and bed clothes and her sewing machine. I want and direct that sufficient amount of my personal property of which I may die seized and possessed of to be sold and all my past debts to be paid and all the rest of my personal property household and kitchen furniture, farming implements, stock etc. to be equally divided between my three children that are now with me, Sallie Catherine, Newton Powell and Wade Hampton. I do nominate Obed Tucker GIBSON my to be my executor in testimony where of I have hereunto set my hand and publish this my last will and testament in presence of the witnesses below named this July 19th 1895.
