Note: According to a book by Gary Norris on the 25th Tennessee Inf. William J. McWhirter 20, enlisted on Sept. 20, 1862 at Sparta, White County, Tennessee. William J. McWhirter was AWOL form March 27, 1863 until April 27, 1863. Private William J. McWhirter died of a wound at Georga after the Battle of Chickamauga.
