Note: SHARPE, JESSIE ROY November 13, 1911-December 18,1975 Jessie was the son of Thomas Wesley and Emma Cora Sharpe. His brother was Rayford; his sisters were Mildred, Brona, and Billie Jean. His wife Ruby Sheldon Sharpe remembers, "Roy and I were married November 14, 1936, in Martinsville, Virginia. we moved to Leaksville, North Carolina, the week after we were married. Roy worked for Marshal Fields, which later became Fieldcrest. We lived in a company house for four years. We bought our first house in Carolina Heights, Leaksville. All of our children were born at home: Gloria, Linda, J.R., Donnie and Tommy. When we first married, we started going to Riverview Presbyterian Church. I was eighteen years old; when the preacher gave the altar call, Roy took me by the hand and we accepted Christ together (how well I remember!). We went to church there until we moved to our present home on Highway 65 in Bethany. After we moved here, I started going to New Lebanon and had my membership moved. All of our children and grandchildren live in different states. We have sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Roy passed away twenty-one years ago. Without him, life has been hard, but all of my friends, neighbors, and church family have been there for me. Most of all, I have had the love and comfort of God.,,' Roy died of a heart attack and was buried on December 20, 1975. Rev. Charles Vaughn conducted the service. Loved to fish and was good at it. Dad was one who never gave up a chance to enjoy life. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him.
