Note: Grandma Sharpe, SHARPE, EMMA CORA PEAY July 4, 1893-July 5, 1983 Emma Cora was sister of Lennius, Clarence, Effie, and Prudence Peay. She married Thomas Wesley Sharpe on January 23, 1911. They had two sons and three daughters. She was a member of New Lebanon Church. Her daughter, Billie Jean Miller, remembers, "Mama was a very interesting and outspoken person. She always said what she thought. Like all farmer's wives, she had to work hard; her favorite song was 'I Don't Work for a Living., Papa died when she was fifty-six years old, and she came to live with me in Reidsville and cared for my children. She returned to Bethany and lived at home for about ten years. She then stayed in a nursing home for about seven years. She was a good Christian woman who was proud of her children and grandchildren.,, After her death of natural causes, she was buried on July 7, 1983. Dr. Mark Harris and Rev. Charles Vaughn officiated.
