My grandmother would never eat in a restaurant or cafe, she always had her food brought out to the vehicle, when she and my grandfather were traveling. She never stayed in a Hotel or Motel that I can recall, they always traveled straight through to where ever they were going. [After her marriage to Mack Alvie, the longest trip she ever took was probably from Delta County, Tx. to Stanton, Tx. then Colorado City, Mitchell County, Texas to Overton, Rusk County, Texas, to visit her parents, Granville F. and Elizabeth J. (Blankenship) Haddock. She really loved to drive around back roads of Mitchell County and other near by area's with Mack Alvie and her children, to view the sites, on Sundays ].(A.M.S.)
My grandmother dipped snuff as long as I knew her, she always had a snuff box or snuff bottle near her. (A.M.S.)
She always cooked her cornbread with a skillet on the top of a burner on the stove. For Thanksgiving she always made a roasted chicken with cornbread/chicken giblets dressing.(A.M.S.)
She liked to have 'Parakeets' in a bird cage in her home, she would sometimes let the bird out and it was always a problem getting the bird back in the Cage.(A.M.S.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Obituary
