Census of 1890 mostly destroyed by fire and water damage in 1921, Department of Commerce, Washinton, D.C. In December 1932, following standard Federal record-keeping procedures, the Chief Clerk of the Bureau of the Census sent the Librarian of Congress a list of papers to be destroyed, including the original 1890 census schedules. The Librarian was asked by the Bureau to identify any records which should be retained for historical purposes, but the Librarian did not accept the census records. Congress authorized destruction of that list of records on February 21, 1933, and the surviving original 1890 census records were destroyed by government order by 1934 or 1935. Robert Percival Porter was Superintendent of the Census on Census Day, June 2, 1890. Note: Some statistical data for 1890 Census available from the U. S. Census Bureau. Her father is Thomas Greene & mother is Mary A. ....} Note: Middle name could be Allender - Correct Spelling {names were spelled like they sounded} was not of great importance until the 1900's. Webster's dictionary had a great effect on correct spelling. Possibly of Cherokee Indian descent? Married 2nd: Green Lowry, Nov 30 1902; Hopkins County, Texas by H. F. Young, Minister of Gospel. Marriage Record filed Nov 30 1902; A. D. Mc Laughline, County Clerk. [Note: No tombstone found at West Memorial Cemetery., Quinlan, Hunt County, Texas for Rebecca E. After Joseph Henry's Death (Mar. 28, 1890); She Married: Green Lowery on Nov 29, 1902 in Hopkins County, Texas. I have found no records that Rebecca ever filed for a Civil War Pension as a widow of an American Civil War Veteran, also I have found no records that Joseph Henry Scarborough/Scarbrough ever served in the American Civil War.[A.M.S.]
