Notes
a. Note:   Albert Andrew Jackson Scarborough.
  Note: My grandfather witnessed the first automobiles, the inventions of Edison and Marconi, the age of electricity. He did not live to see the landing of a Man on the Moon.
  My Grandfather Smoked 'roll your own' cigarettes as long as I knew him. I do not recall him smoking any pre-rolled or 'commercial / store bought' cigarettes.
  My Grandfather and Grandmother {Celia} lived on a farm and sharecropped cotton southwest of Loraine, Mitchell Co., Texas until retirement. (There farm place was near my Uncle Joseph Cullen Payne's, sharecrop farm). My Grandparents moved to Mitchell County, Texas about 1935.
  In the 1940 - 1950's. After retirement they lived in Colorado City, Mitchell County, Texas at several locations. They rented part of a house in the N. W. part of Colorado City before they bought a house. They purchased a house west of my Grandfather Mack Alvie Walls, later sold this property to a Dentist (Bridgford), there is a Dental Office (446 Walnut Street) on the site today (Year 2000). They purchased a house in Loraine, Mitchell County, Texas and lived there until their deaths. I remember my Grandmother telling 'Ghost Stories' while She and A.J. lived next to Grandfather Walls, The one I remember most is 'Bloody Bones' and these stories always ended with 'I Gotcha'. {My Grandmother grew flowers in the Front Yard and my Grandfather had a Vegetable Garden at the back of the House; about the only thing I remember is tall stalks of Corn in the Garden.}
  (My Grandmother Celia was in a Nursing Home in Colorado City, Mitchell County, Texas when she died, of old age) (My Grandfather died of an aneurysm of aortic artery). They always attended the Baptist Church and were very active in the Social Life of the Baptist Church, they fed many Baptist Ministers, many Sunday meals in their home.
  My Grandfather owned a Model A Ford Coupe at the time of his death, I believe he always owned Model A Fords, at least that is the only automobile I remember him driving.
  Quote from Wanda Baird Gilbert: " I'm 62 years old & been married 46 years but I came back several times to visit Uncle "Ab" & Aunt Celia after I married.. Visited with Gladys about 3 years before she died.. Uncle "Ab" & Aunt Celia were always very "special" to me.. My husband, Billy thought Uncle "Ab" was the grandest thing since bubble gum..". Reference:. E-Mail, Mon, 14 Aug 2000.
  I remember { My mother Opal Gladys (Walls) Scarborough also remembers} my Grandfather mentioning that Jewell Davis Scarborough { Author of " Southern Kith and Kin Vol. III " , published 1957, By Abilene Printing Company, Abilene, Taylor County, Texas } wanting to interview him for her book [ or just for data information ], he definitely would not be interviewed. I do not have a reason, nor did he ever give a reason for not being interviewed. I have learned more in the last year - year and a half ( 1999 - 2001 ) about my Grandfathers/Grandmothers/Ancestry, than I ever learned while he and my Grandmother were alive. { A.M.S. }

  Census of 1890. The Eleventh United States Census. Census of 1890 mostly destroyed by fire and water damage in 1921, Department of Commerce, Washinton, D.C. In December 1932, following standard Federal record-keeping procedures, the Chief Clerk of the Bureau of the Census sent the Librarian of Congress a list of papers to be destroyed, including the original 1890 census schedules. The Librarian was asked by the Bureau to identify any records which should be retained for historical purposes, but the Librarian did not accept the census records. Congress authorized destruction of that list of records on February 21, 1933, and the surviving original 1890 census records were destroyed by government order by 1934 or 1935. Robert Percival Porter was Superintendent of the Census on Census Day, June 2, 1890. Note: Some statistical data for 1890 Census available from the U. S. Census Bureau.

Note:   Marriage of Albert Andrew Jackson Scarborough And Celia Charity Thomason was fo llowed by a " shivaree "; which I believe is where relatives and friends make noise, etc. outside of where they are spending their first night together, to keep them awake.
  I remember the mention of a " Trundle Bed "; where the intended Bride and Groom spend the night together ( In a Bed ) separated by a board down the middle of the bed. I assume they are not to have intimate relations, and do not know when and where this would have taken place nor the purpose.
