(Apparently was self admitted by petition, then furloughed, then Admitted by Court Order of Lamar County, Texas). (Abilene State Hospital Record of Nov 3, 1927 lists mothers name, unknown , born Arkansas). Statement by Dr. L. B. Stephens, M.D. (Date: Nov. 3, 1927) states he has known T.H. Walls 20 years, statement lists age as 63 and a Native of Arkansas. Lamar County (Application To Be Adjudged An Epileptic), Date d Nov 3, 1927 lists age as 63 and native of Arkansas and that he is a bona fide resident of The State of Texas for one year; no persons legally liable for his support, occupation Farming; Wife is dead; Children, G. Abilene State School: " The first predecessor of Abilene State School was authorized by the Texas legislature of 1899 to establish a ' branch asylum' to be known as the 'Epileptic colony' for the care and treatment of epileptic patients. An act of the legislature in 1901 designated the colony's location at Abilene on 640 acres of land donated by the city. In 1925 the name was changed to Abilene State Hospital. In 1957 the legislature changed the function of the facility to that of a school for the care and training of persons with mental retardation and changed the name to Abilene State School. There are five original buildings still in existence; however, 19 buildings have been designated as having historical meaning and placed on the National Register of Historic Places."
