War and is listed in the1966 DAR Patriot Index on page 382. His will was probated 9 Feb 1817, executors were William Cannaday andJames Cannaday. Recorded in Will Book 2, page 169, Rocky Mount,Franklin Co, VA. He had 12 children, only 4 mentioned in the will.But he said "put them all 'a' equal 'footing' except youngest 'sunPleasant' him to have the land he lives on himself and 2 hundreddollars. Also William Cannaday to have a certain tract of land andalso John Cannaday the right to a certain tract of land, them to owesumthing clever for a grandaughter. William and James to beexecutors. The will was witnessed by James Radford and Joshua Young.proved 3 mar 1817.   James Cannaday He was born about 1755, probably in Franklin County. He served in theRevolution under General Green. He married Elizabeth Raikes in 1775. He must have died in late 1816 or early 1817 as his will was probatedin Franklin County on February 9, 1817. This will lists his living children: Elizabeth b.
