 February 23, 1888
  DEATH OF MR. M. CADA
Mr. Mowry Cada was born in the State of Rhode Island, April 21st, 1802. At the age of three years he removed with his parents to North Adams, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, where he grew up to manhood. On the 27th day of October, 1833, he united in marriage with Abigail Barber, of Pownal, Bennington county, Vermont, with whom he lived happily till the time of his death. The fruits of this marriage were four children, one son and three daughters, three of whom are still living. About the first of May, 1836, Mr. Cada with his family emigrated to the State of Ohio, landing at Newark in due time. On the 8th day of July, 1836 he moved on his farm in McKean township, Licking county, where he has resided ever since. The deceased lived on the same farm and in the same house for 51 years, 7 months and 1 day. He died Feb. 9th, 1888 aged 85years, 9 months and 18 days. His beloved wife and three children survive to mourn his loss. The funeral services were held February 11th, and Dr. Galusha Anderson, President of Denison University, preached an affecting discourse. The interment took place at the new cemetery, south of Fredonia. This closed the earthlife of a long, useful and honored career. Mr. Cada was an honest, upright man; a kind husband and father, and a useful and highly respected citizen. He voted for every Democratic President from Jackson to Cleveland, and was always an enthusiastic supporter of his party. He was interested in every good word and work, and was uniformly kind and pleasant. He will be sadly missed, by his immediate family and by his many friends. Like a shock of corn fully ripe, full of years and honor, he has been gathered unto his fathers. When our summons comes, may we be as ready to go as he was. The aged wife, bereft of the husband of her youth, and the sorrowing children and friends, have the sympathy of the public in their sad loss.
