Notes
a. Note:   1900 HA, Oahu, Honolulu Dst., pg. 160 - She was attending school and rooming with the Edmund Collons family (enum. June 5th). She was also listed in the census with her family at Waialua (enum. June 29th).
I remember spending Christmases at 1741 with the Hofmanns and Gaynors. We would peak down the front stairs at the Christmas tree with all the present underneath because we weren't allowed down until the grownup awoke. We went down the back stairs into the breakfast room where Bertha fed us and then back up the back stairway to wait for the adults to have their coffee. We watched from the top of the landing until we saw them going into the living room. That was our cue to race down the front staircase to see what Santa had brought.
I remember visiting Nana and Deda as a preteen and loving it. We read the newspaper every morning after breakfast to see what the stores had. Nana and I would go shopping and eat in the tea rooms. We would go to the Farmer's Market with Deda to pick up fresh produce and sometime have lunch. Nana seemed to know every salesperson and shopkeeper around and always introduced me as her granddaughter. She seemed so proud of me.
