 **Melvin was 1 of 74 men who lost thier lives when the Australian Aircraft Carrier Melborne ran
 over the USS Frank E. Evans, DD 754, in pre-dawn operations in the South China Sea in June
 1969. The front 1/2 of the Destroyer was torn away and sank in secounds as the Melborne ran
 over her. Though his body was never recovered his family did place a grave marker at Mt. Hope
 Cemetery in Southern Pines, N.C. To this day, over 35 years later, there are those who are strugling
 to get the names of those who lost thier lives that day on the Viet Nam "Wall".
