Notes
a. Note:   John was the first of our Rosser line to arrive in America, aboard a British packet ship out of Bristol, England. He and his brother, David, were among over 10,000 persons, mostly Welsh, who departed Bristol for America during the period 1650 -1686. Entrees of both brothers appear in the departure manifests. The original records were discovered in the attic of the ancient Bristol Town Hall building, used for many years as a museum. In the late 1800's, during a renovation project, a false wall was erectred (for reasons known only to the renovators). In so doing, files of ancient records were overlooked and left behind the new wall. In 1923, the false wall was discovered and the lost documents found. Among these records were most of the departure manifests of persons who left for the colonies during the early period of the settlements. John and his brother David's entrees are found in the records.
