I always wondered where his middle name of Leroy came from, perhaps from his uncle (see above census). The two year old Leroy is believed to be Willis Roy Short.

IN MEMORIAM In memory of our dearly beloved husband, father and grandfather, David L. Short, who passed away March 8, 1942. Two years have passed since that sad day Our loved one was called home To stand with our Heavenly Saviour Upon the great white throne. Since then our Darling Timmie Has joined the Heavenly band To stand with you, in Glory, too, Upon the Saviour's right hand. Dear Lord, this has been a lonely place Since you were both called away But in his name, we will meet again On that bright eternal day. Sadly missed by his Wife, Children and Grandchildren.
