Note: Samuel is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Shiawassee County, MI. His headstone says born 1794, died 1890. On Samuel's daughter Clarinda's death certificate, it lists her father as Saul Short born in New York. The following taken from the Descendents of Samuel Short compiled by Mary Ann Malecki and Lottie McGregor: Samuel remarried to Harriet. (1870 census) Samuel lived in Rush Twp, Shiawassee County, MI. Samuel Short age 80, born in PA, Harriett age 49, housekeeper, born in Pa. From Corunna Journal, 3 Dec. 1890, George Short (Samuel) probably the last survivor of War of 1812, died 3 Dec. in Rush Twp. age nearly 100 yrs. Voted for President in 1812. (moved) to Rush Twp more than 25 years ago (circa 1865). He was 67 and she was 32. He was born in Oswego, NY, farmer. She was born in Canister, NY, Steuben Co. Married by E. Hoyt, minister of the Gospel. Witnesses: Augle (sp?) & A. Henderson. Wellsboro Gazette Abstracts 1875, Tioga Co, PA Bates, Asa Married On the 22nd day of July, 1833, at the town of Erwin, in the County of Steuben, Asa Bates, of Deerfield, in the County of Tioga and State of Pennsylvania, aged 21 years, and Sally Cole, of Deerfield, aforesaid, aged 16 years, were married by me; and Samuel short, Daniel Cummings, James Gillan, Polly Cummings, and Olive Short, of Erwin, were present as witnesses to the said marriage.
