Note: Ida is buried in Coldsprings Cemetery, Kalkaska County, Michigan next to her husband David Levi Nathan Short, and her son Elmer Short and his wife Opal Sparks Short (Flake) FUNERAL SERVICES HELD SATURDAY AFTERNOON FOR MRS. IDA SHORT Mrs. Ida Short passed away at 10:05 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, in Lansing with heart trouble, after an illness of about a week. Her age was 81 years, 5 months and 26 days. Ida Elizabeth Porter was born at Henderson, Michigan, on November 16, 1872, the daughter of Allen A. Porter and Clairenda Porter. In 1889, at Owosso, she was married to David L. Short, who preceded her in death. After her marriage she lived in Henderson, Flint and Mancelona. Mrs. Short is survived by two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Clara Patton of Mancelona, Mrs. Lena Fissler of East Lansing, Acel Short of Grand Rapids and Ashley Short of Frederic; 25 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. One daughter and one son, Elmer L. Short, preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday from the Mancelona Methodist church, with the Rev. Reo D. Miller officiating. The songs "Beckoning Hands" and "Good Night and Good Morning" were sung by Mrs. Herman Marshall, accompanied by Mrs. Fred Johnson. Interment was in the Coldsprings Cemetery. Pallbearers were Erwin Wayne, Adrin and Kenneth Short, Albert Patton and Donald Owen, all grandsons of Mrs. Short. (Donald Owen was not a grandson, he was the husband of Ida's granddaughter Fidalis Patton) Relatives and friends from out-of-town attendig the funeral were Willis Short and family of Freeland; Mrs Agnes Tomassi and family of Ovid; Mrs. Lena Fissler and family and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Evens, Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Lou LaBarge and family and Mr. and Mrs. Fisher, Long Lake; Lora Serls, Mrs. Sylvia Grousser, Mrs. Clifford Porter and Floyd Short of Flint; Ruby and Maude Short of Roscommon; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Post and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mitchell of Henderson; Hazel and Lester Sackner of Linden; Mr. and Mrs. Acel Short and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Short and family, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Owen and family and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Putman of Grand Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Short and family and the Kenneth Short family of Frederic; Mr. and Mrs. Adrin Short and family, Mr. and Mrs. Barrett Boroff and son and Mrs. Kenneth Howell and children of Pontiac; Mr. and Mrs. John Couins and family of Drayton Plains; Mr. and Mrs. Bacil Nickerson and family of Gaylord; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Patton and family of Kalkaska and Mrs. Opal Flake and daughter of Darragh. IN MEMORIAM In Loving memory of our dear mother, Mrs. Ida Short, who passed away one year ago today, May 12, 1954.
