Note: We called him Opa, german for grandfather, I remember Opa as a tallkind man, who went to the beer store on South Orange Ave in Newark. He alwas had a bag of peanut pillow candy in his dress drawer,yum. He lived with us at 515 South Orange Ave Newark NJ,and moved with us to Springifled in the late 40's He helped landscape our property and it was beautiful. We had chickens,Opa built a chicken coop. Opa became ill arount 1947 and died in 1948. He was living with aunt alice smith lynn in Hillside at the time January 2000/Carol Holst Fredette [TEMP.ged] We called him Opa, german for grandfather. Opa became ill around 1947-48 and died in 1948, at the time he was living with my aunt alice smith lynn in Hillside. carol holst fredette 01/2000 the 1910 census lists Opa as a bookeeper, I knew him as a mason/carpenter 1920 census shows Opa and his daughter Alice living with his brother Herman,Irma,Charlotte were in a foster home in Kearny NJ,see other 1920 census.
