a. Note:   Katherine lived most of her life in Oil Springs, Ontario, Canada. She died in her 81st year in the home of her daughter Evelyn in Detroit, Michigan. An active writer throughout her life, she published a book of verse in 1941 entitled "Grist for the Mill" in Toronto. She was also a contributor to the Toronto Globe and Empire, the Toronto Globe and Mail, The Poetic Digest (of New York) and An American Anthology.
  Born in Eastern Ontario, after moving to Oil Springs (presumeably to either work or marry) she was active in the Methodist, later United Church there, both in the Women's Association and the Sunday school. On 28 Oct 1979, her great grand-daughter, Katherine Noreen Shaunessy and her husband, James Walter Cain, donated and dedicated Communion plates to Katherine's still existent Oil Spring's United Church in memory of her and her husband, John Sauvey.
