OBIT: Uriah J. Short, 75, of 96 Franklin St., Owego, passed away late Saturday at Ideal Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife, Viola, and a son, Raymond. He is survived by five sons, Melvin, Norristown, Pa.; Duane, of Barton; Oliver, of Chemung; Phillip, of Owego; and Dale, of Hayward, CA.; two daughters, Mavis McDuffee, Waverly; Yvonne Pollard, Owego; 20 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Jean Dilly, and Marian Cable, both of Sidney; two half-brothers, Irving McDonald, Binghamton; and Raymond McDonald. Mr. Short has resided in Owego for 35 years. He was a retired employee of the Endicott-Johnson Corp. and was a member of the Owego Senior Citizens' Club. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Estey & Munroe Funeral Home, Owego. The Rev. Arthur Chauncey will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Apalachin.
