Continued: Waco Times-Herald December 23, 1950 TWO KILLED BY CAR HERE - Two persons, a man and a woman, were killed early Saturday morning in an automobile-pedestrian accident in the 1200 Block of LaSalle Street. Dead were Henry Baker, 56, a civilian employee at Fort Hood who was spending the Christmas holidays with children in Waco, and a woman tentatively identified as Mrs. Gaye Perry Chapman, about 50, address unknown. Walter L. Miller, 17, of 1912 Burnett Avenue, told police officers Louis Seeley and E.L. Harris that he was driving west on LaSalle and that the man and the woman entered the street from behind a truck and walked into the path of his automobile. Both were dead on arrival at Hillcrest hospital, were they were taken by a Waco funeral home ambulance. Their deaths brought this years total within the county to 39 and to 6 within the city limits. Funeral arrangements for both have not been completed. Baker is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Pat Richards, 1516 Mitchell Avenue, in whose home he was visiting. Five sons. R.B. Baker of 1916 Pine, Melvin Baker of 1516 Mitchell Avenue, Roy(sic) Baker of 1618 South Fourth, Howard Baker of Shelbyville, Tennessee and J.W. Baker stationed with the army in San Antonio, and two other daughters, Miss Norma Jean Baker, 1516 Mitchell Avenue and Mrs. Victor Queen of Loving New Mexico. Waco Tribune Herald Sunday December 24, 1950 HENRY BAKER DIES IN HOSPITAL - Funeral services for Henry Baker, 55, of Fort Hood and father of five Wacoans will be held at the Shilo Church Sunday at 3. P.M. Reverend W.W. Magness will officiate assisted by Rev. Roy L. Smith. Burial will be in the Crawford Cemetery. Mr. Baker died in a local hospital at 5 P.M. Saturday. Survivors are: five sons; R.B. Baker, E.R. Baker and Melvin Baker all of Waco, J.W. Baker of San Antonio, Howard Baker of Shelbyville, Tennessee; three daughters, Mrs. Pat Richards and Miss Norma Jean Baker both of Waco and Mrs. Victor Queen of Loving New Mexico; three brothers, Sam Baker of Shelbyville Tennessee, Leonard Baker and John Baker both of Crawford; two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Henley, Deckard Tennessee and Mrs. Martha Dodson of Henshaw Tennessee
