Note: Alton Evening Telegraph Date: 7 Feb 1952 Actual text: M.T. Westbrook Melvin Ted Westbrook, who had been ill for the past three years and who had been hospitalized several times, died in Alton Memorial Hospital Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. He had been moved there eight days ago suffering a heart condition and complications. Born Aug. 30, 1920 in Edinburg, ILL. Westbrook moved with his parents, Mr and Mrs. Harry H. Westbrook to Alton at the age of seven years. He was 31 years old and a father of one daughter, Sharon Ann, a pupil at Lowell school. Westbrook had been a former employee of the Alton Boxboard Co. Besides his parents who reside on Humbert street road, and his daughter, Westbrook is survived by his widow, Mrs Rosalie Kennedy Westbrook who lives with the daughter at 220 Allen Street; one sister, Mrs Woodrow Wilson, Cottage Hills; two brothers Manford of Cottage Hills and Milton of Route II, Alton. Two brothers who presided him in death were Marion, killed in action in world War II, and one who died in infancy. The body is at Streeper Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m. today and until Saturday at 11 a.m. when it will be moved to the Elm Street Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Marshall W. Rice will conduct rites there at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Upper Alton Cemetery
