Notes
a. Note:   H00002
Note:   Francis Reddick was born in the same house where Joe Reddick was married and where Francis and Alma's son Henry was later born. This was in Eatonton, Putnam County, Georgia.
Lamar and James Carlton were also born there. It was the home of Zack and Lula as well.
The old house is not standing any longer but there is a much newer house built on the same spot.
The family moved from Eatonton to Lowell, N.C. when Henry was about two years old, 1930 - 1931. Calvin was born in Lowell; actually in the Oakland community. The hous number in Oakland was 226 Oakland St.
Francis had a heart attack whille hurrying for a bus to take him to town where Alma and the two children (Henry and Calvin) were. Francis's friend brought them home from a theater in Gastonia and Francis died at home. He is reported to have had a leaking heart and the Dr. attributed his death to heart failure as he got to the home only about five minutes before Francis died. He died at 11:55PM on a Saturday night. The doctor, M. Hallum(sic) arrived about five minutes before Francis died. He was from Cramerton.
At the time of his death, the family was living at 3 Black Street in Art Cloth community of Lowell, N.C. They had lived there for quite a few years. Francis was a supervisor at National Weaving Company and was loved by all who worked for him. His funeral was attended by hundreds and the procession to Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia was over a mile long.
Francis was christened in the Methodist Church on the 4th Sunday in October 1909. He later became a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church which, years prior, had changed from a Methodist Church to a Baptist Church as many were doing in that place at that time.
Funeral services were conducted by Ford-Hatcher funerl home in Gastonia and burial was in the Reddick plot at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia. Burial was on August 17, 1943. Francis and Alma had bought a plot of five graves and since Alma later remarried and moved to Florida, two of the spaces were given to Alma's mother and father, Mattie Ione Proctor and Lonnie Andrew Proctor. The remainging graves were given to Francis' brother Lamar and his wife Margaret. All are now buried there in the Reddick plot.
